How do points work in Colorado?  12 points in 12 months = no driving. Under CRS 42-2-127 The DMV has the authority to suspend the license of any driver who, in accordance with the schedule of points set forth in this section, has been convicted of traffic violations resulting in the accumulation of twelve points within any twelve consecutive months or eighteen points within any twenty-four consecutive months, or, in the case of a provisional driver, who has accumulated nine points within any twelve consecutive months, or twelve points within any twenty-four consecutive months, or fourteen points within the time period for which the license was issued, or, in the case of a minor driver, who has accumulated more than five points within any twelve consecutive months or more than six points within the time period for which the license was issued.
